8 Common Kitchen Mistakes That You Should Avoid

Whether you are new to the kitchen or you have been cooking for years, it is inevitable that you’ll make fair share of mistakes. It happens when you are in a rush to cook, a bit lazy or completely new to the kitchen environment.

 Below are eight mistakes that you should always avoid while cooking.

  1.  Overcrowding the Pan:

Putting too much food in the pan while cooking leads to uneven heat distribution. It is advised to make two batches instead of stuffing the pan with ingredients.

  1. Relying on touch sense for temperature:

Touching the food item to know the temperature is not at all a correct way. A thermometer built especially to check food temperature should be used for exact temperature.

  1. Putting cold items on hot pan:

Avoid tossing cold items from the refrigerator on the hot pans. Bring them down to room temperature for even cooking.

  1. Flipping the meat constantly:

Flipping the meat on the grill constantly may not give you that beautiful sear as it may give on flipping it once or twice.

  1. Not Seasoning while Cooking:

Forgetting to season the dish while cooking it may leave it tasteless, dull and unbalanced. Seasoning helps to bring out the natural flavors of the dish.

  1. Adding garlic in the very start:

Garlic burns very fast and therefore, it is advised to add it towards the middle or end.

  1. Using Non-Stick Pan Every Time:

Non-Stick pans give off very specific type of heat. The heat is not quite as hot as a regular pan. So, for dishes requiring more heat, use your standard set.

  1. Cooking before reading:

Reading half of the recipe or cooking after reading only the ingredients could land your efforts in soup. Therefore, it is advised to read the entire recipe before  going forward with the recipe.
