“Drinking wine as a lifestyle choice is catching up very fast,” says Cavaliere Subhash Arora. Market trends are showing a marked growth in wine consumption in urban India. According to Sovna Puri, Head-Tastings & Training at Sula Vineyards “There are a lot of young urban people who enjoy drinking wine.”
For a well rounded wine drinking experience it is essential to have the right drinking equipment. For the net savvy urban Indian wine drinker, urbandazzle.com provides the pleasure of shopping wine accompaniments of high quality international makes. While wine can be savored in any glass, a glass designed for a specific wine type helps you to better experience its nuances. Select the one you are looking for from a listing of over a hundred and fifty stem glasses.
Is it important to have different sizes of wine glasses for each wine type?

Each wine has something unique to offer your senses. Most wine decanters are specifically shaped to accentuate those defining characteristics, directing wine to key areas of the tongue and nose where they can be fully enjoyed. For red wine, you may want both a Bordeaux and a Burgundy glass.

A Bordeaux glass is taller, yet the bowl is not quite as large. It is designed for full bodied, heavier red wines such as Cabernets and Merlots. The tallness of the glass allows the wine to proceed directly to the back of the mouth to maximize its flavor.
A Burgundy glass is for lighter, full bodied wines such as Pinot Noir. It is not as tall, but the bowl is larger than the Bordeaux glass, directing the wine to the tip of the tongue to taste its more delicate flavors.
White wine glasses have a smaller bowl , will be more U shaped and upright allowing the aromas to be released while also maintaining a cooler temperature.
Dessert wines generally have higher alcohol content, making the small glass perfect for a smaller serving.

A sparkling wine glass (or flute) will be upright and narrower to retain the carbonation and capture the flavor in the beverage.
Why do we need a decanter?

Presenting wine in a stunning decanter offers aesthetic pleasure, but beyond the beauty, there is a greater reward. Better tasting wine. Letting your wine “breathe” softens harsh tannins and releases its full bouquet. Contrary to what you’ve seen, simply uncorking a bottle is not enough—the bottle opening is too small to let in a sufficient amount of air. Wine needs room to “stretch its legs.” Most wines ultimately benefit from the aromatic unfurling a good decanter provides.
To assure your wines are sufficiently aerated, open them before your guests arrive. A young wine requires a good hour or two in a decanter, while an older wine needs only 15 to 30 minutes to breathe.
Why Stem?

The stem allows you to hold your wine glass without the heat from your hands warming your wine, and without creating smudges on the bowl which will distract from the visual enjoyment of your wine.

However, stem less wine glasses are not uncommon now. Check out the stem less wine glasses by luigi.

One word of warning: when you buy good wineglasses, you will find that the size of the bowl–the round part that holds the wine–is quite large. This is because the wine needs air to come to its full potential. Avoid the temptation to “fill” these wineglasses. In some cases, an entire bottle of wine will fit into a single glass. Instead, fill the glass just to the point where the the bowl reaches its widest point. That will give the wine plenty of room to breathe in all that oxygen.
Why do I need good quality wine glasses?

To truly appreciate the color and texture of your wine you’ll want to purchase wine glasses that are clear and smooth. The best and most practical wine glass will be made with crystal or thin glass. Crystal clear glass, especially blown glass, is preferable because they are thin. Thicker glass is thought to affect the taste of your wine and to create a larger lip, making it difficult to properly sip your wine. You can purchase good wine glasses at a decent price that may be fine for your everyday enjoyment of wine. Or, you can spend quite a lot of money on very high quality stemware that may enhance your wine tasting and drinking experience. Let your wallet and your pallet decide.

Enjoy your wines to the fullest; let simple evenings of fun and merriment with loved ones unfold into lasting memories. “I think (some people) have figured out the downside to hard liquor like whisky and rum, which was quite the done thing in the evenings for health reasons and wine is a good alternative,” said Anasuya Gupta, a wine enthusiast.

One of the well-known and most studied benefits of red wine is its heart protective effect. Moderate consumption of red wine on a regular basis may be a preventative against coronary heart disease. Scientists believe the red wine reduces the risk of coronary heart disease by reducing production of low density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol and boosting high density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol.
